After parading the atbi-Twelfth in Portadown, we made the short journey to Armagh for the True Blues parade. Always a
big event on the parading calendar, and this year was no exception, where a total of 50 bands were on display on the night.
Although slightly smaller than in town, we still played perfectly - from start to
finish. Large crowds had supported this parade, particularly around The Mall.
As previously mentioned, we had a smaller band out in Armagh than we did in Portadown. We paraded with 4 colour party,
1 drum major, 9 drums, 1 bass drummer and 15 flutes. We intended to continue our excellent performances
from Portadown and we did exactly that. Our bass drum was still sounding perfect, which spitefully means the head
will burst at the next parade.
Lambeg Orange and Blue were one of the best small bands on parade. With only 6 drums, they produced a lot of noise,
especially being accompanied by a strong bass drum and player. Drumderg Young Defenders, an under-16 learners band
of the real Drumderg Loyalists, Keady were also on parade. This is a great way to maintain interest and both bands
should be credited for making a smart move.
