Satruday 22nd April - Ballylesson Old Boys - Dunmurry
We travelled to the village of Dunmurry to show our support for the melody band, Ballylesson Old Boys. We were one of the last 20
bands to parade the route. A moderate crowd had gathered in the middle of a village to cheer on the bands on parade.
Starting off out of the car park, we were in fine tune. A much greater improvement than that of the night before in Newry.
We walked in to the crowd playing Eaton Boat Song which was played to perfection. On parade, we had 3 colour party
(bannerette, 36th Ulster Division, Union Jack), 8 drums, 2 bass drummers and 14 flutes; a total of 27 members.
The parade route has a long walk via the back roads, which was ideal for us to test our new tune, Red Army. The tune
was played much better than expected. Nearing the end of the parade, we played Young Citizens, which was played well
in front of the on-lookers.
As we arrived late, not many other bands were parading, other than Pride of the Hill, Rathfriland. The entire band was in top form,
most notably their drum corp.
