Saturday 16th September - Castlederg Young Loyalists
Travelling over 60 miles to the border village of Castlederg, we supported the Young Loyalists on their 29th
annual parade. 39 bands deservedly supported the host band, as they travel across the country each week in support
of other bands. An organised protedt of about 20 Nationalists had gathered at the top of the village, in disapproval
of the parade
We had paraded with a rather large band, with 3 colour party, 8 drums, 2 marshals, 2 bass drummers and 18 flutes
on parade. A total of 33 members of parade. We had played better on the return leg of the parade, coming back through the
village playing Pack Up Your Troubles.
Both Castlederg bands were playing superb on the night, with Pride of the Derg parading with over 30 flutes. Red
Hand Defenders were also playing well as they came near the end of the parade, as was melody outfit Cookstown Sons of
William, who had led the parade.
