Saturday 29th July - Defenders of the Rock - Lisbellaw Our first time ever parading Lisbellaw and we weren't disappointed. Large crowds had packed into the centre of the village, where Defenders of the Rock held their annual band parade. Bands had travelled across Ulster for this parade, with several bands making the journey from Belfast. Thankfully the rain had held off for the night. We had received a great reception from the crowd, as we paraded through the Main Street. For the second consecutive night, we had paraded with a higher flute core than normal, with 1 colour party, 1 drum major, 5 drums, 1 bass drummer and 18 flutes. An overall total of 26 members. Again like the night previous, we had played well, with Marching On being one of the best played tunes on the night. The highlight of the night for many band members was playing under the small tunnel, with the volume being magnified. East Belfast Protestant Boys were one of the well received bands on parade, with their horizontal 8-manned colour party. South Fermanagh Loyalists were wearing their new uniforms for the first time, which looked impressive. A lot of bands are now opting for lightly coloured trousers, which shows the high appeal of style and appearance each band wants to achieve.
