Saturday 29th April 2006 - Enagh Accordion - Markethill
For our fourth parade of the season, we travelled to Markethill, in support of Enagh Accordion Band. Another dry and
warm night, but how long will that continue for?
A fair amount of bands supported the host band, with the majority of bands coming within 15 mile radius of Markethill.
The route was exactly the same as that of Kilcluney Voluneteers parade, which included a small 'blow-off' section along the route.
Moderate crowds had gathered in the town centre to watch the parade go by.
On the night, we had a turnout of 3 colour party (bannerette, 36th Ulster Division flag and Union Jack), 1 drum major,
9 drums, 1 bass drummer and 13 flutes; a total of 27 members. We were at our best coming into the bottom of the town,
especially by playing our newest tune, Red Army. This tune sounds much better in the open air than it does
in a tightly packed Orange Hall, probably due to the scores of high notes within the tune.
On arrival, the parade was in full swing. Among the list of bands parading, Drumderg Loyalists, Keady were probably the
strongest on the night - parading with a very strong drum corp. On the accordion perspective, local band Pride of the
Birches were also in fine tune.
