Saturday 10th June - Portadown Mini-Twelfth - Portadown
It was that time of year again, when all the colours of loyalism took parade through the town of Portadown for the
17th annual Mini-Twelfth. This parade is a good reminder in that the annual Boyne Celebrations are just over 4 weeks
away. This year Portadown District and all other Co Armagh Districts will be on parade in the village of Richhill.
29 of the Portadown lodges were on parade, which was led by the senior officers and a colour party provided
by Portadown Ex-Servicemen's LOL No 608, and music provided by Millar Memorial Flute, Belfast.
As per usual, we had led Corcrain Purple Rockets LOL 339 through the town, where large crowds had gathered in the town
centre. We had an excellent turnout of members - 4 colour party, 1 drum major, 12 drums, 2 bass drummers and 17 flutes.
An overall turnout of 36 members, and for the second consecutive week, a full drum corp. We were on top form for the
second night running, and again the bass drum was sounding brilliant; possibly due to the heat. Our best played tune
on the night was Red Army, in the blow-section in Edenderry.
Bands had travelled from all over Ulster for this parade, most notably newcomers Mourne Young Defenders from Kilkeel,
and Red Hand Defenders from Downpatrick.
