Saturday 27th May - Pioneers FB - Lurgan

After a long day with the Junior LOL in Bangor, we were off to Lurgan in support of Pioneers Flute Band's annual band parade. The parade was well under way on our arrival, with bands travelling from far and near. Disappointedly, not many people made the effort to support this parade, with large sections of the parade being bare of crowds. Even the opposing Nationalist didn't feel the need to support either. Meanwhile, several bands had made the parade after parading Bangor, including ourselves, Portadown True Blues and South Down DUP; albeit just about.

We had paraded with 1 colour party, 4 drums, 1 bass drummer and 11 flutes; an overal turnout of 17 members. By far, our lowest turnout of the year, and generally a low turnout all weekend. Following our performances in Bangor in the morning, our best tune on the night was Marching On, played to perfection.

One of the best bands on the night from Dollingstown Star of the North, who performed a drum solo at the end of the parade. This was gladly welcomed by the applause. Their set included throwing their sticks in the air and with each drummer tapping the adjacent members sticks.
As per usual, Kilcluney Volunteers powerful drum corp was sounding loud and crisp, accompanied by their very strong bass.

If you have any pictures or videos of our band at this parade, please get in contact.
