Saturday 17th June - Portadown True Blues - Portadown
For the second consecutive week we were parading in our hometown, this time in support of Portadown True Blues. The parade
was lead by melody outfit, Cookstown Sons of William, after the host band had completed the route. The rain held off
for most of the parade, with only a few bands getting caught in the downpour.
Like the weekend previous, our bass drum was sounding great, which didn't last too long as one head burst on our way
back through the town centre. Thanks must go to Rising Sons of the Valley, Kilkeel for the lend of their spare head.
Meanwhile, we had a good turnout of members, with 4 colour party, 1 drum major, 11 drums, 2 bass drummers and 16 flutes.
An overall turnout of 34 members. We got off to a good start playing 'Red Army, and our good performance continued
through the town centre.
Recently formed Ballyclare Protestant Boys were on parade, where they kindly gave us an ovation as we paraded past.
Cookstown Sons of William were one of the best and loudest bands on parade. Kilcluney Volunteers and Drumderg
Loyalists were also playing well, with the Volunteers taking home the Best Overall band prize.
