Friday 5th May 2006 - Skeogh - Dromore, Co. Down Following on from Gilford, we were one of the last bands to parade the county Down town, where large crowds had gathered around the square. 34 bands had supported the host band, who are planning on purchasing new uniforms later in the year. A wider range of bands were on parade; pipe, flute and accordion. With two additional drummers from the Gilford parade, we marched with 5 colour party, 1 drum major, 10 drums, 1 bass drummer and 16 flutes. An overall total of 33 members. We had played a wide range of tunes, especially hymns along the back road, which is ideal for trying new things. Dromore is a great place to parade with the narrow streets and tall buildings; the volume is magnified. Following their excellent performances in Gilford, Mourne Young Defenders were on top form once again in Dromore, and deservedly obtained the 1st Best Overall spot, as well as awards complimenting their style, bass drum and drum corp. Kilcluney Volunteers were another band playing well coming in to the square, with their tight and crisp drum corp, and a 'bomb-sounding' bass drum.
