Friday 1st September - Ulster Grenadiers - Carrickfergus
The start of a new month unfortunately marks the last month of parading in the 2006 calendar. With no more than
5 parades left for our band, we supported Ulster Grenadiers, who are celebrating their 10th anniversary this year.
The band received tremendous support on the night, with 50 bands parading around the costal town, with several bands making
the journey from across the water. Large crowds had gathered through the town centre to watch the parade, which is
always welcomed by the visiting bands.
We had a modest band on parade, with 3 colour party, 1 Drum major, 7 drums, 1 bass drummer and 14 flutes. An overall
total of 26 members - three less than the week previous. We started off brilliantly coming through the town, playing
Number One Platoon, in front of the crowd. Then, walking out of town and towards the finishing point, we slipped
down in our performance, before we regained by finishing off with Eaton Boat Song. Congratulations must go to
our junior drum major who collected a third place in the relevany category.
Drumderg Loyalists, East Belfast Protestant Boys and Donaghadee Fusiliers were all playing well, with Fusiliers
showing off their excellent drum major, who surprisingly didn't get rewarded in the awards.
