Saturday 26th May - Co. Armagh / Down JLOL - Bangor
Our first order parade of the season was the annual parade of the Counties Armagh and Down Junior Loyal Orange Lodge parade in Bangor. As per usual, we led Corcrain JLOL 120 who boasted over 30 members on parade - and were the biggest lodge from the two counties.
Our day started off around 8.30am, playing Derry's Walls, at Corcrain Orange Hall, which is situated in a Nationalist area. We paraded with almost a full band, consisting of 4 colour party, 1 drum major, 10 drums, 2 bass drummers and 19 flutes; an overall total of 36 members, which also our biggest turnout of the year so far and the biggest turnout we have had for this parade in several years.
From Corcrain Orange Hall, we paraded down the town, to meet the rest of the Junior District at Carleton Street Orange Hall. From there, three bands: Upper Bann Fusiliers (formly Upper Bann DUP); Portadown True Blues and ourselves, along with accompanying lodges paraded to Bridge Street to board the buses for the main demonstration in Bangor.
In Bangor, lodges from both County Armagh and County Down, joined together for the main parade, which was led by Mavemacullen Accordion, Markethill. Approximately 15 bands consisting of blood and thunder flute, melody flute and accordion bands were on parade.
The day finished off with the Portadown distict parading the town at around 6.30pm, with the weather turning to the unfortunate side.
