Saturday 2nd June - Pride of the Maine - Ballymena After several years absence of parading in Ballymena, we returned for the annual parade of Pride of the Maine, where a total of 41 bands were in attendance. Heavy restrictions were placed on this parade, due to it being deemed 'contentious' by the Parades Commission, as part of the parade route passes the Harryville Chapel. Scottish outfit, Broxburn Loyalists FB had the pleasure of leading the parade.  Time restraints were issued and bands were not allowed to play going past the chapel. Unfortunately, crowds were sparse over the parade route, meaning there wasn't much of an atmosphere, except for coming out of the exclusion zone, where we received a brilliant reception by playing The Sash.
Parading with a smaller band than the previous night, we had 1 colour party, 1 drum major, 6 drums, 2 bass drummers and 18 flutes; an overall total of 28 members. To our surprise, we won 2nd Best Entertaining Band. Our newest tune, Build My Gallows, sounded a lot better than it did the week previous, as it was tested on the back road of the parade. Loyal Sons of Ulster Ballykeel, who were parading in front of us, where in fine form - and also picked up 1st Bass Drum and 3rd Best Entertaining. Other bands playing well on the night were Downshire Guiding Star and Dunamoney FB, who were on parade with a smaller band than usual.
