Friday 9th April 2005 - Fife and Drums, Shore Road - North Belfast

Last night, the band attended their first parade of the season, which was hosted by Fifes and Drums, Shore Road. This was Fifes and Drums first parade and congratulations to them for holding a successful night.

The band played with 9 drums and 15 flutes. We played well considering it was our first parade. It was also the first night we played our new tune, 'Marching On'. This sounded well, but there is still room for improvement.

Other bands in appearance on the night were:

Lisburn Young Defenders, Pride of Raven, South Fermanagh Loyalists, South Down DUP, Maghera Sons of William, Monkstown YCV, Queensway, Pride of Shore, Pride of the Hill Carnmoney, Blues and Royals East Belfast, Portadown Defenders, Fairhill, Goldsprings True Defenders, Ulster Grenadiers, East Belfast Prod Boys, Ballysillian Vol., UVF Reg, Shankill Sons Of Uster, South Belfast Young Conquerors, Mourne Young Defenders, Kilcluney Vol., Bessbrook True Blues, Armagh True Blues

Saturday 17th April 2005 - Rising Sons of the Valley - Kilkeel

On Saturday, the band supported Rising Sons of the Valley in the seaside town of Kilkeel, where the streets were packed with supporters. We took down a large bus load, where the parade and night was enjoyed by all.

The band played extremely well for the 2nd parade of the season. We played with 11 drums and 19 fluters, the biggest turnout of the year which was good to see. But size isn't everything as Crossgar Young Defenders guested with only 6 fluters, which some bands wouldn't even think of parading with.

Other bands who were eye catching were Pride of the Hill, Rathfriland who played extremely well with excellent fluting. Other eye-catching bands include Drumderg and Armagh True Blues, who were up in numbers from last week.

Quotes made about the bands performance:

"Portadown Defenders were sounding very well with some noise off the bass drum."
"Portadown Defenders were in fine tune."

Saturday 23rd April 2005 - Ballylesson Old Boys - Dunmurry
The band headed down to the village of Dunmurry, to support the Ballylesson Old Boys FB. The parade was in full swing by the time we arrived and we were geared up to give it our best shot.

Our best shot we must have gave, as the band came home with a 1st small Blood and Thunder prize under our arm. The band played with 9 drums and 15 flutes, an increase in Friday nights performance of 6 drums and 14 flutes. As per usual, we played our new tune Marching On on the back roads, sounding good, but it still needs improved before it can be released to the public.

25 bands were in attendance tonight with some of Ulsters finest on show. Downshire Guiding Star, Clogher and Pride of the Hill, Rathfiland all sounding brilliantly coming in at the end, with Pride of the Hill playing Air Force Blue superbly. A definite mention has to go to the Corbet Accordion Band who were playing well, by gaining a lot of support from the crowds.

Congratulations to Ballylesson Old Boys, and thanks for the 1st place award. It's good to get recognised once in a while.

Friday 29th April 2005 - DOllinstown Star of the North - Lurgan

Tonight, the band guested at Dollingstown Star of the North's parade in the town of Lurgan, where a good turnout of bands were on show. Tonight was the first night Dollingstown wore their new uniforms, sporting the new colours of black and turqoise.

The band played tonight with 8 drums and 13 flutes, our lowest turnout of the year. With Lurgan being a great parade for blow-off's, we were up against Portadown True Blues, Clogher Protestant Boys, Pride of Stramore, Drumderg Loyalists and many others, all who gave their all.

Some of the good bands on show were Downshire Guiding Star, with excellent fluting and their bass drummer was playing well. Other bands going will were the Sons of William, Rathfiland who were playing well with low numbers.

Next Friday we're off to Gilford and Dromore, for the parades of Pride of Stramore and Skeogh respectively.
